Why do you get sick?
Have you ever wondered why some people are susceptible to catching contagious viruses and other are not? Well that has been a question on my mind for years. As we began researching the topic of whether it is viable to alkalize the body, the answer became clearer and clearer. The reason we are susceptible to contagions is because our immune system is compromised due to having an internal system that is very likely too acidic. When we are in an alkaline state our immune system is much more resistant to contagions. The more acidic were are, the more vulnerable we are in all areas, i.e., mental, emotional, and physical. Viruses, fungus and bacteria that have made their home in our bodies, require an environment that is acidic and oxygen deprived. These 3 organisms eat acidic waste and then create more waste in our bodies through their elimination process. To be blunt, viruses, fungus and bacteria poop inside of our bodily environment, creating a perpetual garbage dump, which leads to chronic and degenerative illnesses.
We all know people who never get sick, and we know people who always get sick. Can you guess what the difference is? Those who have a body tissue alkaline pH of 6.5 to 7.0 will seldom get sick. Would you be surprised to know that back in 1933 Dr. William Howard Hay determined that it was because of consuming too many acid-forming foods that caused an alkaline imbalance, leading to many ailments and diseases. A good indication of being overloaded with acid is chronically feeling tired and worn-out. To quote Dr. Enderlein, "Total healing of chronic illness only takes place when and if the blood is restored to a normal, slightly alkaline pH." An alkaline state allows for the body to repair itself!
Our bodily environment makes a heroic effort to protect our internal organ systems by taking calcium out of the bones to create an alkaline environment, which results in osteoporosis. The body also responds to protect the internal organs by keeping toxins and acids as far away from the internal organs as possible by storing the toxins and acids in fat. It is highly likely that an overweight person is toxic and has an acidic internal environment rather than an alkaline one. An acidic bodily environment prevents the internal organs from optimal functionality.
The following illnesses require an acidic environment to thrive: vaginal infections, genital herpes, kidney infections, urinary tract infections, candida, and more. Illnesses along with chronic and degenerative diseases require an acidic environment in which to thrive.
Foods are assessed as to their acidifying or alkalizing properties in the body, by burning the foods down to their mineral content. The acid-forming or alkaline-forming designation is a function of the residual mineral elements, so if a more alkalizing state is desired, you will want to give your body the alkalizing minerals, in such a fashion the body is capable of utilizing. Higher pH has been designed to accomplish such an effect.
So what can you do to change from an acidic state to an alkaline state? It really takes a complete dietary change. This is something anyone can do and much, much less expensive than using modern medicine, where drugs are utilized to address symptoms, rather than actually getting to the cause of the ailment. Most prescription medications are acid and do nothing to restore an alkaline state in your body.
Eat 80% alkaline foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, and chew each mouthful at least 25 times or more. The more you chew the food the more alkalizing it becomes as it is mixed with an enzyme in the saliva, "ptyalin." Stop drinking drinks that contain sugar, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners as they are all acidic. Make herbal teas and sweeten with Agave syrup. You can add fresh fruit to teas in a blender for a refreshing drink and sweeten with Agave syrup which is also low glycemic and has little or no affect on the blood sugar. Do not wash down your food with liquids. Drinking liquids with your meals dilutes the alkalizing properties of ptyalin. Drink liquids optimally 2 hours after eating, then drink liquids between meals. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water throughout the day. Sip water, do not guzzle it. Actually the body can only absorb about 4 ounces per hour. These are just some of the things you can do during the day.
The body actually dumps acid at night. So what can you do at night to help alkalize the body while you sleep? Your body's peak acidic dumping processes occur between 2:00am to 3:00am. You can take Higher pH to give your body additional support throughout the night while you sleep.
